The 705 is a compact 2-way system suitable for stand or bookshelf mounting. Along with the 703, 704 and HTM7, the sloping top and front baffle are formed from a single piece of ply, using the same technique used to form the Nautilus 800 Series cabinets. This makes the cabinet stronger than if two separate panels had been used and the curved profile of the lip in front of the tweeter benefits the that driver's response by reducing diffraction from any sharp edge. The woven Kevlar® coned bass/midrange driver incorporates features designed to reduce distortion in the motor system and these are used in all bass/midrange and bass-only drivers throughout the Series. In most drivers, the inductance of the voice coil varies according to the position of the coil in the gap, which causes the driver response to vary throughout each cycle. When reproducing bass frequencies, this variation can be significant. Here, a combination of a copper sheath over the centre pole of the magnet system and aluminium disc on the tip eliminates this variation. This reduction in modulation distortion helps to make the sound character more consistent with output level and improves the rendition of fine detail. Freq. Response 46Hz – 25kHz ±3dB on reference axis
Freq. Range -6dB at 43Hz and 50kHz
Sensitivity 89dB spl (2.83V, 1m)
Nominal Impedance 8Ω (minimum 4.6Ω)
Power Handling 50W – 120W into 8Ω on unclipped programme
